THE SISTERS OF KING ARTHUR
Morgan le Fay was an original character, and I don't mean in her deepest roots as Modron, the goddess called "Mother." In western literature she is the first appearance of a character we can call "wicked sister of the king." There had been plenty of wicked women, and plenty of sisters, but never this combination.
In my game Morgan le Fay is a sophisticated courtier, and also a Pagan enchantress, wise and clever, and free like in Mists of Avaon, but sometimes hostile towards King Arthur, sometimes reconciled, usually ambiguous and thus dangerous. Queen Margawse is more raw, with Picts and pechs instead of the faeries and knights that Morgan uses, and practitioner of bloody Heathen rites long shunned by even the Pagans. Queen Elaine is without magic, but has her Russian Monk and her Oriental Mystic to provide that for her, as she goes about court on her own business, and damn the king if he thinks he is going to interfere.
Here the three sisters, each with their entourage, meet.
Queen Morgan, with her faeries.
Queen Elaine, with her court. Notice the magicians with her.
Queen Margawse, with her loyal Picts.
